Join nurse educators from across the state for a full morning of learning, leadership, and collaboration. This year’s conference will equip you with the legal knowledge, professional strategies, and advocacy skills essential for advancing nursing education and protecting the profession.

The program opens with a welcome from President Suddick, followed by Dr. Kincheloe’s keynote, The Legally Literate Nurse Educator: Leadership, Accountability, and Influence in Nursing Practice, a thought-provoking session on the educator’s role in shaping safe, ethical, and effective nursing practice.

Next, Dr. Nancy Spector, PhD, RN, FAAN will provide expert guidance on the Nurse Practice Act, offering clarity on how it applies to nurse educators and the responsibilities it entails.

We’ll conclude with Dr. Susan Y. Swart, EdD, MS, RN, CAE leading a session on Advocacy Strategies to Advance Nursing Education, giving you practical tools to amplify your voice and influence change.

This conference also marks the launch of the Nursing Education Mutual Interest Group, creating new opportunities for educators to connect, share resources, and work collectively toward the future of nursing education.

Dr. Laura Kincheloe aspires to inspire every audience by connecting the art and science of nursing through relevant practice experiences, conversation, and respect.

Nancy Spector PhD, RN, FAAN

Managing Director of Regulatory Innovations. National Council State Boards of Nursing

Dr. Nancy Spector, PhD, RN, FAAN is the Managing Director of Regulatory Innovations within the National Council of State Boards of Nursing (NCSBN). In this role, she plays a pivotal part in advancing nursing education regulation and acts as a vital link between nurse educators and regulatory bodies. She serves as the managing editor of Leader to Leader, NCSBN’s influential publication that highlights critical issues impacting nursing education ResearchGate. Dr. Spector is a prolific researcher and author, contributing to numerous key publications. Her work includes studies on evidence-based regulatory guidelines for nursing education programs, the approval processes for registered nurse programs, and investigations into the transition to practice for newly licensed nurses. Through her leadership and scholarly contributions, Dr. Spector is instrumental in shaping the future of nursing education with a strong emphasis on innovation, quality, and public protection.

Executive Director

Susan Y. Swart is a respected leader in nursing and healthcare, focused on improving the profes-sion and addressing healthcare challenges. With over 20 years of experience, she has worked in nursing regulation, leadership, and policy development. She serves as the Executive Director of the American Nurses Association-Illinois, the Illinois Society for Advanced Practice Nursing, and the Illinois Nurses Foundation.
